Local developer snags land for Hilton hotel in hot North Carolina town

Several prolific developers in the Triangle region are setting their sites on their next project: a new hotel in a growing city.
Champion Hospitality LLC, a partnership between Holmes Legacy Partners and Keller Development, purchased more than eight acres east of downtown Sanford off Broadway Road by U.S. 421 Bypass to build a 98-room Tru by Hilton hotel.
The LLC purchased the property Monday and paid just shy of $2.8 million for it, according to Lee County deed records.
Carter Keller, managing partner of Keller Development, said in a release that the project is influenced by the success of the adjacent Lee County Athletic Park, a recently completed $27 million, 121-acre complex with four diamond fields and six multi-purpose fields...
